I grew up in Ankeny, Iowa part of a very large and very strong Midwest family. Shortly after college made my way out to Scottsdale, Arizona in 2002 where I began working as a Mortgage Loan Consultant for a large mortgage bank.
After mastering each position at the bank over the course of just 2 years, I discovered my most useful talent was figuring out the most complicated of loan scenarios and then breaking them down to simple steps my clients and I could take to achieve the best financial outcome in buying and refinancing homes at the least overall expense. My associates at the bank and some friends quickly took notice, and with my loyal team in place I was ready to move forward with a mortgage company based on the principles and the unique approach I developed.
I broke off from the large mortgage bank and with my now father-in-law we co-founded Burk Carpenter Financial in early 2005. As both owner and operator from day one, I have been deeply involved in each of the 1100+ residential mortgage loans closed by my company, most of which in fact I have handled personally from start to finish. It is this blue-collar, hands-on, knowledge-and-education-based approach to my career that successfully guided our company through the financial crisis and the continuing challenges of the very important and very difficult mortgage lending process.
I continue to honor my commitment to honesty and integrity, as well as my promise to personally spend the time with anyone and everyone who reaches out to me either in need of a mortgage loan or in need of free advice about their financial and/or credit situation.
There are very few scenarios I have not successfully dealt with, either by finding the right way through it or by outlining a very specific set of instructions for my client to follow to get where they want to be.
Unlike many other industries, I believe…actually I know…in the mortgage lending world a client doesn’t have to settle for a higher interest rate and higher overall costs to get the best possible loan and the best possible service. I can also comfortably say I would be at the table with the few best Mortgage Loan Professionals in the country in terms of understanding the underwriting guidelines on Conventional, VA, FHA, and Jumbo loans, and most importantly the philosophies behind them.
